Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has confirmed that he will be staying with Dutch club PSV Eindhoven for the next season. The Argentine star, who joined Barcelona from Paris Saint-Germain in 2014, had been linked with a move back to his former club PSG.
In a statement released on the official PSV website, Messi said: "I am very happy to have signed a new contract with PSV. I feel great and I want to continue working hard every day to help the team achieve its goals."
Messi's decision to sign a new contract with PSV comes after he was linked with a return to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this year. However, the Argentine forward chose to remain at the Dutch club, where he has won numerous titles and trophies since joining in 2014.
The 35-year-old is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time and has helped Barcelona win countless domestic and international titles during his time with the club. He has also played for Argentina at the highest level, winning the World Cup in 2014 and helping the country reach the final of the Copa America in 2021.
Despite his success at Barcelona, Messi has always expressed his desire to play for another club in the future. However, his decision to stay at PSV suggests that he may not be ready to hang up his boots just yet. With the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid reportedly interested in signing him, it remains to be seen whether Messi will make another move away from his current club in the near future.
